James Petrou

Casting a mere 5'5 shadow, James makes up for his gravity challenge, with gigantic passion and commitment to his craft. During a period in electronic music in which every second person is a DJ or producer his passion for good music and eclectic sound sets him apart from the herd.

Born in Bringelly and raised on a farm, James grew up on a diet of classic rock, disco and funk and these early influences permeate his style. Far more concerned with the quality of a tune and its ability to elicit a reaction in the listener than its genre or what record label it’s on James’ music is a forward thinking blend of throbbing bass-lines, groovy drums and tweaked vocals all designed to get the sweat dripping off the walls.

Like many modern day artists his love affair with electronic music started on the other side of the turntables. He fell in love with house music in the late nineties and hasn’t looked back. A true music lover if he isn’t in the studio or behind the decks he is probably losing it on a dance floor somewhere.

As a DJ, James has played all over the Sydney scene at events such as Spice, S.A.S.H., La Famiglia, Bare Essentials, and currently holds a residency at Something Else. James also puts on Trojan themed events at various underground Sydney clubs. He has supported international artists such as Eelke Kleijn, Wehbba, Marc Marzenit, Inxec, Steve Lawler, Oliver Koletzki, DJ Hell, Marlon Hoffstadt, Yousef, DJ PP, Octave One, Kevin Griffiths, Agoria, and Guti.

In 2012, his break out EP "Toni's Pain" on Beef Records in collaboration with Sydney artist Jaded, was supported by some of the biggest names in the business, and all three remixes charted into the top 30 in Beatport's Deep House Chart.

Since then James has been busy establishing his business, and In March 2013 he launched his label "Trojan House Records", which has released over forty digital tracks, and their debut vinyl 12" release. EP's and remixers include: Inxec, Rhadow, Hugo, Just2 & Luca M,Sami Wentz, Panos, Whim-ee, Vanilla Ace, Volkoder, YokoO, Paolo Driver, Murat Uncuoglu, Sascha Sonido, Nino Santos & Lightem.

THR music has been supported, and charted by artists including Richie Hawtin, Hector Couto, Stacey Pullen, Miguel Migs, Sam Divine, Luciano, Joyce Muniz, Pig & Dan, Maya Jane Coles Lee Curtiss, Markus Schulz, Oxia, Danny Krivit, Dubfire, Bushwacka!, Tensnake, Mark Farina, Inland Knights, Max Graham, Sidney Charles, Animal Trainer, The Mekanism, Nick Warren, Hot Since 82.
